BRISTOL, RI – OCR, (obstacle course racing) is the fastest growing sport worldwide, with more people run in obstacle course races than marathons and half marathons combined. RKNR Media is bringing OCR to Historic Colt State Park in Bristol, RI this summer. On July 25th hundreds of racers will descend onto the beautiful state park to participate in The Trident Race, a physical challenge that includes a 4 mile race with 20 obstacles.
“We see The Trident Race as a metaphoric celebration of overcoming obstacles that life sets before us. Racers participate mostly for the adrenaline rush of healthy competition and personal achievement,” says Ely Beckman, founder of RKNR Media.
This will be a family friendly event, with a Mini Trident race being set up for children to participate in an obstacle course made just their size. Partial proceeds to benefit the Bristol Parks and Recreation Department with a special donation to The Wounded Warrior Project.
According to founder Ethan Tucker, “Obstacle course races have a great way of bringing out out the best in people, so everyone has a great time. The fun does not stop at the finish line, after the race we are producing the most epic festival of life in the history of Bristol, with live music and a clam bake to celebrate achievements.”
Ethan’s cofounder Mark Rhynard had this to say, “Whether you are in it to test your speed and agility or need an excuse to enjoy a sunny day with friends and family in one of Rhode Island’s most spectacular locations, The Trident Race will surely become a RI tradition for years to come.”
