Rhode Races & Events Kicks Off Their 2016 Race Calendar on May 1st.

PROVIDENCE, RI – Rhode Races & Events is excited to announce their 2016 event calendar.  The year-long series of events kicks off on May 1st with the Providence Marathon.

This USATF certified race take advantage of the EastSide’s rich history and beautiful ocean-side scenery, providing some of the most breathtaking runs in the country.  Race weekend festivities include a 3 day Expo, Beer Garden, music and food.  Over 2500 participants will test their meddle and training throughout the race day.   The race courses feature a wonderful mix of urban and rural neighborhoods, bike paths, beautiful boulevards and stunning bay views.

The rest of the 2016 event calendar includes the following:

July 2, Independence Rhode Race – In partnership with the Bristol Fourth of July Committee, this half marathon will follow the beautiful downtown streets of America’s quintessential community when it is decked out in its finest – during the Oldest 4th of July Celebration in America.  The course includes incredible historic homes, a town common and the America’s Cup Museum before heading out along the scenic coastline, through Colt State Park and finishing along the water at Independence Park.

September 11, Harvest Wine Run – Enjoy a beautiful run through the Aquidneck Land Trust and finish in the vineyard.  After the race, you will enjoy BBQ, wine and music amongst the wine vats and vines.  Race participants will receive a souvenir wine glass as a memento of their experience.

September 24, Jamestown Half Marathon – The event is set on picturesque Conanicut Island and looks out over Narragansett Bay and the Newport Pell Bridge, the largest suspension bridge in New England.  The course features vivid landscapes, winding roads, historic Watson Farm as well as the village of Jamestown with its small shops and quaint restaurants. .

October 30, Ocean State Rhode Races –  This genuine Rhode Island marathon will showcase what is great about the Ocean State.  Not only does the course feature iconic Rhode Island beauty, our post race festival will include an authentic Rhode Island experience at the Narragansett Town Beach.

Additionally, we will host a non-profit race on Saturday, May 7

  • BWEF Food Truck 5k (and 10k) – Partnering with the Bristol Warren Education Foundation, RRE donates all professional services and equipment of this 10k and 5k race to allow 100% of all proceeds to go directly to the non-profit.
