Dr. Rajiv Kumar, founder and CEO of ShapeUp and founder of Shape Up RI shared this message with the community:
“Ten years ago, I started this organization during my first year at Brown Medical School as a campaign to promote healthier lifestyles in Rhode Island. Since then, we’ve been proud to host our popular and effective statewide fitness challenges on an annual basis. Dozens of community organizations, hundreds of employers, and tens of thousands of Rhode Islanders joined our campaign over the years, and we are incredibly grateful for their support and enthusiasm. Together, by leveraging the power of social support and grassroots change, we’ve made a tremendous and lasting impact on the health of our fellow Rhode Islanders, judged not only by the published studies that demonstrate our success but also by the countless success stories that have poured in from people across the state. We thank the entire community for their support of our efforts over the past decade, and we look forward to continuing our work to improve the health and lives of our fellow Rhode Islanders.”
